Importanti istituzioni internazionali hanno esposto i suoi lavori: Arizona Museum of Art, Tempe (2016, S); Henry Art Museum, Seattle (2016, S); Triennale di Milano (2014, G); Vancouver Art Gallery (2014, 2012, 2010; G; 2006, S); Museo de Arte Moderno Y Contemporaneo De Santander Y Cantabria, Santander (2013, G); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino (2013, G); Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton (2013, G); Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro (2013, G); Hayward Gallery, Londra (2012, S); CRAC Alsace, Altkirch (2012, G); Museo MAXXI, Roma (2012, G); Künstlerhaus, Berlino (2012, G); Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro (2012, G); Yerba Buena Center for Contemporary Art, San Francisco (2012, G; 2011, S); Palácio das Artes, Porto (2010, G); Contemporary Art Museum St Louis (2009, G); St Mary’s University Art Gallery, Halifax (2008, S); The Luckman Gallery della California State University, Los Angeles (2008, S); Getty Museum di Los Angeles (2008, G); Mannheimer Kunstverein, Mannheim (2008, G); Aspen Art Museum (2008, G); MOCA di Los Angeles (2008, G); Stadtische Galerie, Waldkraiburg (2007, S); Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo (2007, G); Creative Time The 59th Minute di New York (2006, S); Wattis Center for Contemporary Art, San Francisco (2005, G); Kunsthalle di Norimberga (2005, G); California Museum of Photography (2005, G); Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (2005, G); Kunstverein di Norimberga (2004, S); Toronto Sculpture Garden (2004, S); Sculpture Center – Long Island City, New York (2004, 2003; G); My Dreams curata da Harald Szeemann al Monasterio de la Cartuja de Santa María de las Cuevas, Seville (2004, G); Charlottenborg Exhibition Hall, Copenhagen (2004, G); Bard College Museum, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York (2003, G); MOMA, San Francisco (2001, G); New Museum, New York (2002, 2001, G).
Euan Macdonald was born in Edinburgh in 1965. After having spent his adolescence in Canada, he moved to Los Angels where he currently lives. Having established himself in the international scene mainly through video realization, his poetic work, since the beginning, has focused on the research of primary and infinite space and time entities, which, according to Macdonald, can hide in the elusive actions of our ordinary reality. It’s the straightforward actions of everyday that inspire the concepts of Macdonald’s videos, images and situations don’t have an immediate and spectacular impact but demand longer reflections. His works reveal a particular sensibility in capturing the phenomena hidden in ordinary things. Events he defines as “Nebulosi Misteri”. His works have been exhibited in many internationally recognized institutions: the Arizona Museum of Art in Tempe (upcoming 2016, S); the Henry Art Museum, Seattle (upcoming 2016, S); Triennale di Milano (2014, G); the Vancouver Art Gallery (2014, 2012, 2010; G; 2006, S); at the Museo de Arte Moderno Y Contemporaneo De Santander Y Cantabria, Santander (2013, G); at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2013, G); the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton (2013, G); the Museum of Modern Art di Rio de Janeiro (2013, G); the Hayward Gallery in London (2012, S);CRAC Alsace, Altkirch (2012, G); the MAXXI Museum, Rome (2012, G); at Künstlerhaus in Berlin (2012, G); the Yerba Buena Center for Contemporary Art, San Francisco (2012, G; 2011, S); Palácio das Artes, Porto (2010, G); the Contemporary Art Museum St Louis (2009, G); St Mary’s University Art Gallery, Halifax (2008, S); The Luckman Gallery of the California State University, Los Angeles (2008, S); at Getty Museum in Los Angeles (2008, G), at Mannheimer Kunstverein in Mannheim (2008, G), at the Aspen Art Museum (2008, G), at MOCA Los Angeles (2008, G); at the Stadtische Galerie di Waldkraiburg (2007, S), at Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo (2007, G), at Creative Time The 59th Minute in New York (2006, S), at Wattis Center for Contemporary Art di San Francisco (2005, G), at Kunsthalle di Nürnberg (2005, G), at the California Museum of Photography (2005, G); Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal (2005, G); at Kunstverein Nürnberg (2004, S), at the Toronto Sculpture Garden (2004, S); at the Sculpture Center – Long Island City, New York (2004, 2003; G); at the exhibitions My Dreams curated da Harald Szeemann at the Monasterio de la Cartuja de Santa María de las Cuevas, Seville (2004, G); at Charlottenborg Exhibition Hall in Copenhagen (2004, G); at Bard College Museum, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York (2003, G); at SFMOMA, San Francisco (2001, G) and at the New Museum, New York (2002, 2001, G).
